iTero Element® 5D Imaging System Technology

The iTero Element® 5D imaging system intraoral scanner helps us provide better care for our patients. This scanner uses a special camera to take high-resolution, multi-dimensional images of teeth and gums. 3D High-Definition Digital X-Rays (CBCT Cone Beam Technology)

At Modern Dentistry of New England, we utilize cutting-edge high resolution digital x-rays, in addition to precision dental implant placement techniques utilizing the latest computer planning sand designing software. In order to provide you with the best possible dental care, it is essential that our dentist is able to accurately evaluate and diagnose your oral health. One of the state-of-the-art tools we use to do that is Cone Beam CT X-rays. While standard X-rays, called bitewing X-rays, provide us with a view of a few teeth and the supporting bone structure, CBCT X-rays allow us to view the full upper and lower dental arches in your mouth — including all of your teeth, your upper and lower jawbones, and your surrounding facial structures.

DEXIS CariVu™

Here at Modern Dentistry of New England, we believe that prevention is key to maintaining a healthy and beautiful smile. To help you avoid serious oral problems, Dr. Gabr utilizes Dexis® CariVu™ cavity detection technology. This small, hand-held tool can detect cavities in their early stages, allowing our dentist to treat your teeth early on and avoid major damage or discomfort.

At our practice, our dentist and team work hard to help you maintain a healthy smile by detecting, diagnosing, and treating oral problems early on. CariVu™ by Dexis® is a small device that our dentist uses to detect cavities before they are even visible, thus providing early treatment and resulting in minimal damage to your teeth. The process of using CariVu is simple and painless. Our dentist will slip the CariVu device into your mouth, where it will “hug” each tooth, one by one, and envelop them in near-infrared light.

This light causes the tooth enamel to appear transparent and any decay or lesions to appear as dark spots. Because the cavities and lesions absorb the light, our dentist can quickly target the specific areas of your tooth that need treatment. Utilizing CariVu cavity detection provides a large advantage when it comes to your oral health. This small yet powerful tool identifies cavities and other problems in their early stages. This means that you do not have to wait until your tooth starts hurting from large amounts of decay before getting the treatment it needs. By catching and treating tooth decay early on, our dentist can help you avoid many other problems that can arise when a tooth receives greater amounts of decay.

Early treatment also helps you avoid more complex and expensive treatments that would be needed to treat more severely damaged teeth. CariVu is a great dental tool if you would prefer to not have X-rays taken of your mouth. If you are hesitant about X-rays because of the radiation they emit, we are happy to work with you. While our team utilizes digital X-rays, which emit significantly less radiation, the CariVu lets us accommodate your preferences and detect cavities without an x-ray.
